What causes air loss?


1. Bladder failure. The bladder is the inner tube within the struts and leading edge. Like a tire that loses air, the bladder has been punctured by a sharp object like a thorn that penetrated the tough outer Dacron shell. The bladder can be found in the leading edge and all the struts. Bladders can be easily repaired or replaced. The following video will describe how to locate and repair the damage.

If you prefer to purchase a new replacement bladder, please order from your local retailer or in our online store. The diagram below identifies the strut location and names.


CORE Bladder Bezeichnungen2. Valve leakage: Inflate, Deflate or Fastpump. Valve leakage cannot be repaired. It is advisable to replace the valve to ensure it is not the source of the leak. Replacement valves are available and can be identified here.

3. Leaking Fastpump hoses. If you have not found any bladder or valve leakages the only place left to investigate is the hose connections between the struts and leading edge. You should quickly see any hose issue that needs repair. Look for missing clamps (Zip ties) and cuts in the hoses. Replacement hoses can be found in your repair kit that comes with the bag. Cut off what you need and zip tie the hose securely on both ends. You can always order more hoses from us at any time.

Tips to help you find your leak:

  1. Pump up the kite fully and listen for leaking air.

  2. Pump up the kite and submerge one strut at a time and look for bubbles. Bubbles will either come from the leak or a seam close to the leak. Submerge the rest of the struts and leading edge bit by bit until you find your leak.

  3. Remove the bladder(s) and inflate it. Spray the inflated bladder with soapy water and wait. Bubbles will occur where the leak is.

  4. Pump up the kite, lock each strut valve and wait overnight. You may find a limp strut in the morning.

  5. Your last option if nothing else works is to fill the (removed) bladder with water and look for water leaks. We don’t recommend this because now your bladder will need to dried out before you reinstall it.
