Any small rip in your kite becomes the weak link in the system. Hard crashes can open the small rip into a larger one. The best solution is to get a professionally sewn patch from any sail shop. If you are on the beach, repair any small tears you find in your canopy with sail tape as soon as possible. Clean the area around the patch (preferably with an alcohol pad) to ensure no salt or dirt remains. Affix quality sail tape over the rip on both sides of the canopy and round the corners to prevent “dog ears”.

We recommend "PSP Spinnaker Tape". You can find it on the web.

Now, if you didn’t bring any sail tape with you, you can temporarily use the fabric repair tape in your repair kit. The PSP tape is a better long term solution. The best solution, of course, is to get it professionally repaired at a sail shop.
